Alexa (Lexi) is an 18 year old scholar attending grade 12 at Beaulieu College. She is captain of the College’s equestrian team. Her love for horses began when she was three years of age and she has gone on to represent South Africa in equestrian competitions since the age of 10. She has also represented Gauteng Province in Show jumping, Dressage, Equitation, Showing and Eventing and is South Africa’s current Female Vaulting Champion and Pas de Deux Vaulting Champion.

Some of her major achievements include: representing South Africa as a Pony Rider in international Jumping competitions against New Zealand and Australia; represented South Africa at the Children’s FEI International Jumping Challenge world finals in Abu Dhabi (UAE) in 2010; and winning the Philip Smith Memorial Equitation Championship – the highest equitation competition in South Africa in which only four competitors are selected nationally to perform Dressage and Jumping on their own and unfamiliar horses. Her prize was an all-expenses-paid trip to the Royal International Horse Show at Hickstead, United Kingdom (2011).

In the next few months, Alexa will be competing in her 3rd FEI World Equestrian Games™ (previously in Aachen-2006 and Kentucky-2010) in Normandy in September 2014, in Vaulting for Team South Africa and will then go on to represent South Africa later in the year at the 2014 FEI World Jumping Challenge final.

Her dream is to become an Ambassador for Equestrian sports among the youth so to represent South Africa and the African continent at the Youth Olympics is a dream come true for her.
